This section is dedicated to discussing all the different types of Knife steels available. I've broken down into four categories: Stainless, Carbon/Tool, Damascus, and Non-Steel. Included in each section is a compositional breakdown (if available) and general uses and/or brief history. I've also tried to mention some of the makers and/or companies that like to use that particular steel, and when appropriate, specific knife models.

I don't claim to be the all-knowing knife steel person, and I do make mistakes. Please feel free to email me if you see a mistake or you have a question regarding any of the information on this site.
