Sandvik 12C27 Stainless Steel
Manufacturer: Sandvik Materials Technology
Sandvik 12C27 is a cutlery steel manufactured by Sanvik Materials Technology in Sweden. It is a well-rounded knife steel that is used mostly for entry-level knives and displaced AUS-6 and 440A as the king of entry-level knives steels.
12C27 is very easy to work with, and very forgiving. It takes a very keen edge if heat treated properly and can be taken to very high hardness - up to 61 HRC. The only downside is that it doesn't hold an edge as well as the high-end cutlery steels like 154CM.
This steel is used extensively by Mora Knives, EKA, and Opinel.
